About Me

Hi, I'm Yath.
Learning to drive shouldn't feel stressful.

I spent years working at VicRoads, seeing thousands of driving tests — passes and fails. What I noticed? Most fails weren't about skill. They were about nerves, bad habits, and gaps in the fundamentals that nobody had ever properly explained.

So I started Safe Track to teach learners the way I wish every student had been coached before their test. Calm, clear, structured, and tailored to the way the Mitcham VicRoads driving test centre actually scores you. I'm based right here in Mitcham, just minutes from the test centre on Whitehorse Road.

I offer driving lessons across all of eastern Melbourne — Box Hill, Blackburn, Ringwood, Croydon, Vermont, Nunawading, Doncaster, Templestowe, Camberwell, Glen Waverley, Lilydale and everywhere in between. Beginners welcome. Refresher drivers welcome. Overseas licence holders welcome. No fancy booking software, no hidden fees — just message or call me directly.

Languages: I teach in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Haryanvi and Urdu — so if you'd feel more confident learning in your first language, no problem at all.

Single 1-hour lessons start from $70. Lesson packs work out cheaper — a 5-pack is $330 ($66/lesson) and a 10-pack is $650 ($65/lesson). The VicRoads Test Package (a 1-hour warm-up lesson plus use of the dual-control car for your actual test) is $240, or a 45-min warm-up + car is $225. Bundles combining lessons and test prep are also available. Pickup and drop-off is available across eastern Melbourne — message Yath to finalise the details. No hidden fees, no booking software surcharges.
Lessons are in a dual-control automatic Mazda 3. Most learners find automatic faster to master and the VicRoads test is identical regardless of transmission. If you specifically need manual lessons, message me and I'll let you know who to call.
I cover all of eastern Melbourne — including Box Hill, Blackburn, Ringwood, Croydon, Vermont, Nunawading, Doncaster, Templestowe, Camberwell, Balwyn, Glen Waverley, Lilydale, Bayswater, Knox, Wantirna and more. Pickup and drop-off is available — just message me with your suburb and we'll sort the details. See the full list →
I reply to WhatsApp messages and phone calls within minutes during business hours (7am–8pm Mon–Fri, 8am–6pm weekends). Most students are booked in for their first lesson within 2–3 days, although evening and weekend slots fill faster — book a few days ahead.
In Victoria you need to: 1) pass the Learner Permit knowledge test to get your Ls, 2) log at least 120 hours of supervised driving (including 20 at night) over a minimum of 12 months if under 21, 3) pass the Hazard Perception Test, and 4) pass the practical Drive Test. You'll then hold P1 (red P) for 12 months, P2 (green P) for 3 years, before going full licence.
The Mitcham test runs around 30 minutes and covers local suburban streets, roundabouts, traffic lights, and reverse parking. Having worked at VicRoads, I know the exact routes and what examiners look for — and I'll make sure you're fully prepared.
Check mirrors and blind spots, signal right, pull forward slowly angling to the kerb, reverse while checking all around, then straighten up. We'll practise this until it's second nature — it's one of the most commonly tested manoeuvres.
Pull up alongside the car in front, signal, reverse slowly while turning the wheel towards the kerb, then straighten as you reach the right angle. I break this down step-by-step with reference points specific to my car so it clicks quickly.
It varies. Complete beginners typically need 10–20 lessons on top of their 120 supervised hours. If you've already been practising with family, a few targeted lessons focused on the test route can be enough. Message me and we'll work out a plan.
Yes — the Test Drive Package includes vehicle use for the official VicRoads test, plus a warm-up lesson beforehand so you're familiar with the car and calm on the day. The most popular option is the 1-hour warm-up + car ($240), which gives you a full hour on the Mitcham test route immediately before your test. There's also a 45-min warm-up + car option ($225).
Yes — pickup and drop-off is available across eastern Melbourne. Just message me with your suburb when you book and we'll finalise the details together.
Most overseas licence holders are surprised by Australian road rules — hook turns, tram rules, give way at roundabouts. Even a couple of refresher lessons can make a big difference and help you pass first time.
Yes — and a lot of my students start out nervous. Calm, structured pacing is the whole point of how I teach. We move at your speed, in quiet areas first, until confidence is real (not faked). Parents of teenage learners and adult re-starters are some of my most common clients.
